The investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of journalist Savannah Guthrie, continues to develop. Nancy Guthrie, 84, has been missing from her Pima County, Arizona home since January 31, 2026. In a significant development, law enforcement officers searched the residence of Savannah's elder sister, Annie Guthrie, and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, on February 8, 2026. Their home is situated only four miles from Nancy's residence.
Police were observed outside Annie Guthrie and Tommaso Cioni's property on the same night the Guthrie siblings released a video plea for their mother's safe return. The Pima County Sheriff's Department stated on X that the investigation is ongoing, with follow-up activities occurring at multiple locations. As of February 9, 2026, no suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified.
Furthermore, the sheriff's department will maintain a presence at Nancy Guthrie's residence for security at the family's request. The public and media are reminded to adhere to traffic and private property laws, with no trespassing permitted on the Guthrie property. This search of Annie Guthrie's home followed reports suggesting her husband, Tommaso Cioni, might be considered a suspect, though officials have not named anyone.
This is reportedly the second time Annie and Tommaso's residence has been searched in connection with Nancy Guthrie's abduction. Previously, their car was taken for investigation. The recent search of their approximately USD 650,0000 home reportedly lasted several hours, with investigators seen photographing rooms and allegedly examining the septic tank. The police have not taken Annie Guthrie into custody.
