Human remains were discovered in San Bruno following a fatal shooting and subsequent house fire. The incident began on Friday afternoon as a shooting investigation on Keefe Court, leading to a 31-year-old man being taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators found human remains while examining the house fire's aftermath on Saturday. The San Mateo County Coroner's Office is now tasked with identifying these remains and determining the exact cause of death. Residents evacuated during the fire were able to return to their homes Friday night.
San Bruno Police Chief Matt Lethin described the occurrence as rare for the community. Authorities indicated there were no prior calls for service at the residence and believe this to be an isolated incident. Police have not confirmed if an arrest has been made or if the suspect was inside the burning home.
