In San Antonio, Texas, a man identified as Oscar Javier Barbosa was allegedly stabbed outside a YMCA on February 19th. The incident occurred while Barbosa was engaged in a custody transfer of his children with his ex-girlfriend, Melanie Sierra Gomez. Police reports indicate that Gomez, along with Rivas, the ex-boyfriend of Barbosa's new girlfriend, may have orchestrated the stabbing.
Rivas was arrested on March 22nd and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance. He is currently held on $105,000 bail. Gomez, who was on probation for making terroristic threats, was arrested on February 24th and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was released on bond on March 4th.
Barbosa sustained injuries to his stomach and arms, necessitating surgery. He was reportedly on the phone with his girlfriend during the attack, which aided investigators in identifying suspects. Following the stabbing, Rivas allegedly drove Barbosa's car from the scene. Barbosa survived the attack and is cooperating with authorities.
