Tragedy struck Salt Lake City on Wednesday evening when a shooting erupted during a funeral service at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse. The violent incident, which occurred in the parking lot, led to the deaths of at least two individuals and left several others injured.
Authorities reported that at least eight victims were affected, with three in critical condition and three others sustaining injuries of unknown severity. Some of the wounded were transported to hospitals in private vehicles before law enforcement arrived at the scene near 650 North Redwood Road.
The suspects fled the location in a vehicle, heading north on Redwood Road, prompting an immediate manhunt. Investigators are exploring the possibility of gang involvement, although no motive has been officially confirmed. The FBI's Salt Lake City office has offered assistance to local law enforcement.
