In Saint John, police responding to a 911 call on January 29, 2025, discovered the bodies of a 10-year-old boy and a 17-year-old.
The youngest victim was found still warm in his bed, appearing as if he were sleeping. However, upon closer inspection, officers found him in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.
The 911 call from the 17-year-old victim revealed his terror as he pleaded for help, with the recording capturing sounds of a struggle before the line went silent.
The accused, Roman Kamyshnyy, 46, is on trial for two counts of first-degree murder. Prosecutors allege he committed the killings in an act of 'desperate vengeance,' and that he subsequently attempted to take his own life.
Officers described the scene, including a barricaded apartment door and the discovery of the accused covered in blood with a wound to his temple, believed to be from a nail gun.
