Waze Seeks Chance to Speak in Disha Salian Case
17 Sep
Summary
- Waze requested court hearing before CBI production order.
- He denies knowing anyone connected to Salian's lawyer.
- CBI registered FIR after Bombay HC directed fresh probe.

Dismissed Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze, who is presently in judicial custody for the Antilia explosives case, has submitted an application to a special NIA court. He is seeking an opportunity to present his defense should the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) request his production in relation to a newly registered case concerning the death of Disha Salian.
Waze's plea stems from media reports about the CBI's case, in which his name appears in the FIR, though not as an accused. He explicitly requested the court to hear his submissions before issuing any production order. The application also addressed a "smear campaign" he alleges is being conducted by certain lawyers and media organizations, specifically denying any acquaintance with individuals connected to Salian's father's lawyer.
The CBI initiated a fresh investigation and registered an FIR following a directive from the Bombay High Court. This action came after the court considered concerns raised by Disha Salian's father about the initial investigation. The FIR includes allegations of murder and destruction of evidence, with the agency expected to examine the roles of several individuals.
Disha Salian, who managed actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a building. Her death preceded Rajput's own demise days later. The Bombay High Court ordered the CBI probe on September 2, tasking the agency with examining all circumstances surrounding Salian's death.
