Jnanabharathi police have arrested a self-proclaimed Ayurvedic healer from Maharashtra for allegedly defrauding an engineer of Rs 48 lakh. The accused, identified as Vijay Guruji, purportedly sold expensive and harmful products to the 29-year-old victim under the guise of treating his sexual health problems.

The engineer, a Shivamogga native residing in Jnanabharathi, filed a complaint on November 22, 2025, after noticing no improvement and experiencing kidney complications from the purchased 'medicines'. He had encountered an Ayurvedic camp promising a quick solution and was prescribed 'rare medicines' costing up to Rs 2.6 lakh per gram.

Authorities have registered a case and are actively searching for the owner of the Vijayalaxmi Ayurvedic shop, where the fraudulent medicines were allegedly sold. The police have also initiated measures to clear all roadside Ayurvedic camps due to the seriousness of the case.
