- Fraudulent collection of Rs 45 lakh was reported.

In a significant bust, Anand Town police arrested two individuals on Saturday for defrauding the Shri Ganesh Angadia firm of approximately Rs 45 lakh. The arrested men, identified as Anilkumar Chamanlal Shrichandbhai Mathwani from Ahmedabad and Amitkumar Shankarlal Parsotamdas Khatri from Vadodara, allegedly impersonated others to collect the money. The funds were intended for complainant Narendra Mafatlal Shah, a resident of Mumbai.
Following the complaint, police launched an investigation, meticulously examining CCTV footage and gathering intelligence. Their efforts led them to intercept a grey Hyundai i20 carrying the suspects near the Gamdi overbridge. Upon questioning, the duo confessed to their involvement in the elaborate scheme.
Further investigation revealed that both Mathwani and Khatri have a history of similar offenses, with a comparable case previously registered against them at the Surat DCB. This suggests a pattern of organized financial crime orchestrated by the apprehended individuals.
