Hyderabad police successfully intercepted and seized Rs 4.05 crore in illicit hawala cash on Friday. The money was being transported illegally in a Maharashtra-registered SUV from Nagpur towards Bengaluru.
The interception occurred near Addakal in Mahabubnagar district, leading to the arrest of two businessmen from Gujarat. Identified as Prakash Prajapathi, 30, and Pragnesh Prajapathi, 28, they admitted that the significant sum of cash originated from Nagpur and was intended for delivery in Bengaluru.
Further investigation revealed that Prakash Prajapathi is wanted in connection with a Rs 50 lakh cheating case filed in December 2024. The seized cash has been secured, and authorities are continuing to investigate its source, ownership, and any wider hawala network linkages.
