A tragic double murder in Lucknow was reportedly triggered by a dispute over a meager Rs 160 debt. The accused, identified as 35-year-old Kishan Rawat, was arrested following a police encounter on Wednesday night, during which he sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.
According to police statements, Rawat had purchased goods worth Rs 160 on credit from the 45-year-old victim's grocery shop. The woman had been persistently requesting the payment. An argument over this debt escalated on the evening of March 9. Police reported that Rawat confessed to raping the woman before killing her and her 18-year-old visually impaired son.
The confrontation allegedly began when the woman's son abused Rawat, leading to the boy being pushed into a water tank and strangled. When the mother intervened, Rawat reportedly assaulted and then killed her. The bodies were discovered in a water tank and on a bed, respectively. Rawat, known for his violent tendencies and history of alcohol abuse, was cornered by police on the outskirts of Lucknow.
