In Surat, a 42-year-old woman has reported a Rs 15 lakh fraud, accusing Raj Prajapati of deceit under the guise of marriage. Prajapati allegedly posed as an unmarried man, befriending the widowed complainant in January 2016 and building trust over several years.
Prajapati reportedly lured the woman into a symbolic marriage ceremony in 2019, tying a mangal sutra and promising formal registration, which never materialized. During this period, he allegedly obtained Rs 15 lakh from her through multiple transactions, claiming it was for his mother's medical expenses and personal reasons.
