In Roorkee's Mohanpura locality, a young couple was discovered deceased in a hotel room on Friday. The pair, identified as 25-year-old Sagar from Nathukhedi village and a 22-year-old woman from Landhaura, had checked into the establishment on Thursday evening.
Hotel staff raised the alarm after the couple did not check out as scheduled and became unresponsive. Upon arrival, police found the room locked from the inside. A preliminary investigation revealed a strong odor, suggesting possible pesticide consumption.
Senior sub-inspector Dharmendra Rathi indicated that while the case prima facie appears related to a love affair, the definitive cause of death will only be confirmed after the postmortem and forensic examination of the bodies, which have been sent for examination.
