Groomer Jailed for Roblox Exploitation

Carlo Tritta, 19, received a 28-month jail sentence for grooming a 14-year-old girl he encountered on Roblox in September 2024. Their communication quickly moved to other messaging apps where Tritta engaged in "highly sexualised" conversations and exchanged explicit images and videos. The victim's mother discovered the messages last August, leading to Tritta's arrest.

Tritta's predatory behavior continued even after his initial arrest. He breached bail conditions by visiting the girl's home, attempting to contact her, and sending her letters and cards to dissuade her from proceeding with the case. He also admitted to perverting the course of justice and witness intimidation.

During sentencing at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, the court heard about the victim's distress, stating she "felt trapped and upset" and feared for her safety. Her mother described their home as no longer feeling safe, leading them to consider moving. Tritta's defense cited Asperger syndrome and anxiety, suggesting these conditions may have affected his understanding.

However, the judge determined that Tritta's persistent offending, including witness intimidation committed days after a court order, warranted immediate custody. Hampshire Police noted Tritta used "love-bombing" tactics, sending gifts and messages, to manipulate the victim. The victim's mother is now urging parents to be vigilant about their children's online interactions, warning that gaming platforms can be dangerous spaces for grooming.
