Road Rage Erupts: Officer Shoots Man in Critical Condition

A violent road rage encounter in Orange County on Thursday resulted in a 31-year-old man being shot by an off-duty police officer and left in critical condition. The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Dolsontown Road near McVeigh Road when, according to authorities, the driver of a Volkswagen exited his vehicle and confronted the driver of a Toyota.

The verbal dispute quickly turned physical, with the Volkswagen driver, identified as Wallace Fisher, allegedly brandishing a knife. Eyewitnesses reported hearing shots immediately after Fisher made a motion inside the car. The Toyota's driver, 33-year-old Anthony Simon, an officer with the Kingston Police Department, then fired his weapon, striking Fisher twice.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances, reviewing cellphone video of the confrontation. The officer has been placed on administrative duty pending the investigation's conclusion. Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is urged to contact State Police.
