A fundraising effort initiated by Rivera-Vega's sister, Evelin Rivera, aims to cover funeral costs and support the grieving family, who also lost their home in the fire. The fundraiser has already garnered significant donations.
If convicted, Rivera-Vega could face a life sentence without parole. He is currently in custody with bail set at $2.5 million and is scheduled for arraignment. The motive for the alleged arson attack remains under investigation.
