Dental Surgeon Carried Mile in Tragic Hit-and-Run

A tragic incident on the A289 Gads Hill in Gillingham, Kent, resulted in the death of 89-year-old retired dental surgeon Tom Wallace. He was struck by a grey Mercedes estate shortly after 12:00 PM on Monday, December 29th, and was carried on the vehicle for over a mile before being discovered on Grange Road.
The car was later found abandoned, and its two occupants fled the scene on foot. Kent Police have since charged Albert Matraxhiu, 28, with death by dangerous driving, and Erald Paci, 29, with perverting the course of justice. Both men are Albanian nationals and were remanded in custody.
Mr. Wallace, a great-grandfather, was a respected figure in the Medway Towns, having practiced dentistry there his entire career. His family remembered him as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed sailing, bell-ringing, and extensive charity work, including fundraising for Marie Curie. They expressed gratitude to the compassionate residents and postman who tried to assist him.
