On September 12, 2025, two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants fired around 10 rounds outside Jagdish Patani's home in Bareilly. Patani, the father of Bollywood actress Disha Patani, had approached the district magistrate seeking a license after the incident.
Following the attack, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had earlier assured Patani, a retired DSP, of security. After completing all the necessary formalities, the Bareilly district administration has now issued a revolver/pistol license to Patani.
The suspects in the shooting incident, identified as Ravindra and Arun, were later killed in an encounter on September 17 in Ghaziabad by a joint team of the Uttar Pradesh STF, Haryana STF, and the Delhi unit. The Bareilly senior superintendent of police has confirmed that security arrangements at Jagdish Patani's residence will remain in place.
