In a shocking incident that occurred late on the night of November 16, 2025, a retired Army captain in Secunderabad, Hyderabad was the victim of a daring home invasion. According to the Karkhana police, a six-member dacoity gang, including two of the victim's Nepali domestic helpers, attacked the 75-year-old Captain Giri (Retd) in his independent triplex house.
The incident took place around 12:30 AM when Captain Giri was asleep. The group of six, including the domestic helps Raju and Pooja, entered the victim's bedroom, gagged him, and bound his hands. They then attempted to sedate Giri by making him drink a liquid, but the physically fit senior citizen resisted and spat it out.
After pinning down the victim, the robbers proceeded to steal his chain, rings, and other valuables worth around ₹50 lakh. They also ransacked the cupboards and stole cash and ornaments before fleeing the scene, even taking the victim's phone with them.
Giri's wife was not present at the time, as she had gone to a relative's house. Another domestic help sleeping on the ground floor was also sedated by the intruders. It was only later that Giri managed to free himself and, with the help of neighbors, contacted the police.
Investigations revealed that the Nepali couple had been employed by the victim just a month ago. They were given accommodation on the ground floor, allowing them round-the-clock access to the house. The police suspect the couple opened the rear door to let in their four associates, who carried out the brazen robbery.
