In April 2025, a distressing scene unfolded in Doncaster where 84 dogs, two cats, and a chicken were discovered living in squalid conditions. RSPCA officers described the environment as the worst they had encountered.
One rescued springer spaniel, named Cloud, has found a new loving home in Hull with Morgan Bulman and Luke Shepherd. While she took time to adjust to sleeping in a bed and experiencing calmness, she is now described as 'perfect' by her new family. Cloud was potentially identified in a widely shared police photograph of the rescue scene.
Polly, another young spaniel rescued at three months old, was adopted by Lisa Marchant, who noted the lingering yellow staining on the dog's tail as a reminder of her past, but confirmed Polly is now happy and well-adjusted.
David Parkes, 61, was found guilty on September 29 of failing to ensure animal welfare. His wife, Delphine Parkes, 60, and son, Sam Parkes, 28, had previously pleaded guilty to the same offenses. All three are scheduled for sentencing on December 9. An RSPCA spokesperson confirmed that sadly, one dog had to be euthanized due to health issues, but the rest have been successfully rehomed.
