- The incident occurred while the suspect was on probation for previous offenses.

A Minnesota man, Abdimahat Bille Mohamed, 28, with a history of sex crime convictions, faces new charges of kidnapping and rape. He is accused of meeting a woman via Snapchat in September and holding her against her will in a hotel for several days, during which she was allegedly sexually assaulted.
The alleged incident took place while Mohamed was on probation for two previous sexual assault cases. In May 2024, he was sentenced for a 2017 rape involving a minor and a 2024 rape, but avoided prison time due to plea agreements. Sentences included stayed prison terms and probation.
Mohamed was apprehended after the victim escaped and sought help from a resident on September 21. He is currently held on a $300,000 bond, facing charges including felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping. This case highlights concerns about repeat offenders and sentencing practices.
