According to prosecutors, body-worn cameras captured Mott confessing to the killing. During the ensuing pursuit, Mott allegedly turned with a knife and stabbed Officer J. Kauppila in the eye.
Despite being stabbed, Officer Kauppila continued to pursue Mott and incapacitated him with a taser. Officer Kauppila was treated for orbital fractures around his right eye and underwent extensive surgery.
