Judge Seals Reiner Autopsy in Hollywood Murder Case
30 Dec
Summary
- Court order bars public release of autopsy findings for Rob and Michele Reiner.
- Autopsies confirmed deaths were homicide due to multiple sharp force injuries.
- Son Nick Reiner faces murder charges in his parents' stabbing deaths.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has issued an order to block the public release of autopsy reports for the late Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. This decision stems from a request by the Los Angeles Police Department to place a security hold on the investigation, aiming to protect sensitive details from reaching the media before detectives gather crucial information. The medical examiner's office confirmed the couple's deaths were homicides, citing multiple sharp force injuries as the cause.
Law enforcement officials stated that the court order, signed by Judge Deirdre Hill, is intended to ensure the integrity of the investigation conducted by the Robbery-Homicide Division. Security holds are a standard procedure in high-profile cases to prevent premature disclosure of autopsy notes or test results. This measure has been employed in previous investigations involving notable figures, maintaining confidentiality during critical investigative phases.
The slayings of Rob and Michele Reiner have led to murder charges against their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner. Prosecutors allege he fatally stabbed his parents on December 14, 2025, inside their Brentwood home before fleeing. Nick Reiner, who has reportedly struggled with addiction and schizophrenia, is expected in court on January 7, 2026, to enter a plea. Authorities are still investigating a motive for the attack.
