Red Fort Gets High-Tech Security Overhaul

In response to a recent blast in Old Delhi, the Delhi Police have implemented a comprehensive security upgrade around the Red Fort. This initiative includes the installation of 120 additional CCTV cameras, with 100 strategically placed in and around the fort and Chandni Chowk, and 20 monitoring entry and exit points to the parking lot.

These new surveillance cameras are equipped with advanced video analytics, including facial recognition technology linked to a criminal database, and an automatic number plate recognition system integrated with databases of stolen vehicles. A minibus outfitted with mobile facial recognition capabilities will also patrol the area, providing continuous surveillance and generating immediate alerts for any individuals with prior criminal records.

Further strengthening security, the police presence at the Red Fort post has been doubled, and 10 identified "dark spots" are being addressed with improved lighting. Additionally, market associations have been engaged to promote safety measures, and chemical traders are instructed on buyer verification and reporting suspicious activities to prevent misuse of hazardous materials.
