Real-life Batman scales wall to reclaim stolen bag

In a scene reminiscent of Gotham City, a man dressed as Batman assisted in recovering a stolen handbag in Norwich last weekend. Sonni Mason, 25, was at a fancy dress party when he witnessed a handbag snatching outside a nightclub. He and friends, also in costume as characters like Mister Fantastic and Poison Ivy, pursued the suspect.

After police were alerted, the bag was found approximately 300 metres away, perched atop a high flint wall bordering Norwich Cathedral. Following unsuccessful attempts to retrieve it, Mason, still in his Batman attire, scaled the wall. He successfully recovered the handbag with all its contents still inside, returning it to its grateful owner.

Mason expressed his hope that the incident would inspire others to help those in need, stating that bravery, boldness, and kindness are essential qualities, regardless of wearing a costume. He emphasized that being a protector is what matters, encouraging people to assist others feeling uncomfortable or being mugged.

Norfolk police confirmed officers were approached by a member of the public seeking help for a missing bag. Inquiries at the scene led to the bag's recovery and its subsequent return to its owner with all possessions intact.
