Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice filed for bankruptcy on Wednesday, listing $3.5 million in debts and $677,054 in personal assets. Most of his liabilities are connected to civil litigation stemming from a high-speed crash in Dallas and allegations of assault by a former girlfriend.
Rice's largest creditor is owed $979,837, a settlement for his role in the 2024 Dallas crash that injured multiple people and led to a six-game NFL suspension. The 26-year-old is also disputing potential debts in ongoing civil cases, including combined lawsuits totaling $700,000 from crash victims and $200,000 from an ex-girlfriend who accused him of assault.
The receiver was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation for the crash, pleading guilty to felony charges. He served an additional 30 days this year for violating probation by testing positive for marijuana.
