Ransom Note Demands Millions for Missing Mom
19 Feb
Summary
- A new ransom demand requests millions in cryptocurrency, not Bitcoin.
- The note is described as more graphic and chilling than the first.
- The FBI is investigating the authenticity of the ransom notes.

A second, more graphic ransom demand has reportedly surfaced in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie. The latest note, received February 18, allegedly requests millions of dollars in cryptocurrency, specifically excluding Bitcoin. This demand is described as more chilling and sophisticated than a previous one received in early February.
The FBI has not yet confirmed the authenticity of the ransom notes, which were also reportedly sent to local Tucson news outlets. During a recent interview, the sender of the new note detailed consequences if the payment is not made. By inference, the note suggests some proof of life and potentially inside knowledge of the suspected abduction at Nancy Guthrie's home on February 1.
