Tragedy struck Rameshwaram on Wednesday morning when a Class 12 student lost her life after being stabbed by 21-year-old Muniyaraj. The incident unfolded as the victim was on her way to school near Sethupathi Nagar, allegedly over a year-long communication breakdown following a four-year relationship.
She was rushed to the Rameswaram Government Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced her dead. The accused, Muniyaraj, surrendered himself at the Rameshwaram police station shortly after the incident. Thuraimugam police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack.
Following the girl's death, her grieving parents and relatives expressed their anguish by staging a protest.
