- Court order follows a petition from a law graduate facing application backlog.
The Rajasthan High Court has mandated that the Bar Council of Rajasthan must process all pending applications for advocate enrolment by September 9. This crucial directive addresses the significant challenges faced by law graduates eager to begin their legal careers due to these delays.
Justice Shubha Mehta issued the order after considering a writ petition filed by Surendra Khinchi, a law graduate whose enrolment application remained unprocessed. Khinchi cited administrative issues and ongoing Bar Council elections as reasons for the extensive delay.
The court acknowledged the adverse impact of such delays on the petitioner's right to practice law. It noted that elections had concluded and results declared, making it possible to process pending applications, including those of other similarly affected candidates.
Previously, administrative committees formed for processing applications had been cancelled, exacerbating the difficulties for aspiring advocates. The High Court's intervention aims to expedite the process and allow these graduates to commence their professional journeys without further obstruction.
