18 Feb
Summary
- Eight judicial officers were placed on awaiting posting order (APO).
- A surprise inspection revealed vacant courtrooms and absent officers.
- The transfers followed an inspection by the Acting Chief Justice.

Eight judicial officers in Rajasthan have been placed on awaiting posting order (APO) following an administrative directive issued on Tuesday. This action was prompted by a surprise inspection of the High Court's heritage building complex in Jodhpur, conducted by Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma. The inspection uncovered irregularities, including vacant courtrooms and instances of judicial officers being absent from their seats during official court hours.
In response to these findings, an immediate administrative order was issued by Registrar General Chanchal Mishra, citing "administrative exigencies." Among those placed on APO is Ajay Sharma, the district judge of Jodhpur. Other officers reassigned include judges of special Pocso cases, additional district and sessions judges, and senior civil judges from various Jodhpur courts. These officers are now reporting to designated headquarters pending their new postings.
