A significant inter-state racket involving dummy candidates has been exposed by the Rajasthan Police's Special Operations Group (SOG). An investigation, initiated after irregularities were noted in the May 21, 2023, Assistant Engineer (Civil) exam conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission, led to the arrest of a 36-year-old man from Haryana.
Investigators discovered that original candidate Indraj Singh allegedly tampered with his admit card to allow a dummy candidate to appear in his place. The dummy candidate, Gurdeep Das from Hisar, Haryana, was arrested on February 27, 2026. Das reportedly used a smart device to photograph exam questions and send them to an associate, Ajit Kumar, who was subsequently arrested on March 8, 2026.
Kumar, also from Hisar, allegedly utilized internet sources and other individuals to solve the questions and transmit the answers back to the dummy candidate during the exam. This sophisticated cheating operation, which employed smartwatches and Bluetooth devices, is believed to have been used in several recruitment exams across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Jharkhand, Tripura, New Delhi, and Karnataka.
