Rae Bareli police have apprehended two individuals in connection with the murder of a 45-year-old madrassa teacher, Murtaza, on December 12. The victim was attacked in the Dih police station area. The postmortem report indicated that injuries from hard and blunt objects were the cause of death.
Acting on a complaint filed by the deceased's cousin, Abdul Hafeez, an FIR was registered. The accused, identified as Abdul Jabbar and Rafiq Ahmed, were arrested on Monday. They were subsequently presented in court and sent to judicial custody.
The incident reportedly occurred when Murtaza was traveling on a motorcycle with his daughter. According to police, the assailants intercepted him, and after an initial failed attempt to shoot him, they brutally assaulted him with a hammer and bricks, leading to his death.
