Australian Federal Police have charged a 46-year-old man from Queensland with serious child exploitation offenses. The man is accused of attempting to groom two young girls in the Philippines, aged 12 and 16, by grooming their mother via a messaging app. He allegedly pressured the mother to provide child abuse material, which she refused.
His alleged actions came to light when Australian Border Force officers searched him at Brisbane Airport in December 2024. Analysis of his phone revealed the grooming attempts directed at a woman in Manila. The Australian Federal Police subsequently arrested him at a residence in Blackwater, west of Rockhampton.
He now faces multiple charges, including grooming a person to facilitate sexual activity with a child overseas and soliciting child abuse material. Each offense carries a potential maximum penalty of 15 years imprisonment, highlighting the seriousness of the alleged crimes.
