29 Oct
Summary
- Puppy was slammed onto pavement and dumped in bin.
- Witnesses saw dog being grabbed, shaken, and attacked.
- Abuser disqualified from keeping animals for five years.

An 11-month-old spaniel puppy, Brandy, endured a brutal street attack by Adam Lawford, who slammed the dog onto the pavement and subsequently placed the unconscious animal in a recycling bin. Multiple witnesses reported seeing Lawford grab, shake, and assault the puppy before discarding him. Police stopped Lawford, and Brandy was taken to a vet, leading to an RSPCA investigation.
Brandy survived the attack, showing signs of significant mental distress, including timidity, despite his generally sweet temperament. Veterinarian examination revealed mild grazes, moderate bruising, and a head wound, all appearing to be less than 24 hours old. The vet confirmed Brandy suffered both physical and mental trauma.
Lawford, who denied wrongdoing, has been disqualified from keeping any animals for five years, with a minimum appeal period of three years. He also received a two-year community order, a 120-day alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement, a £360 fine, and ordered to pay £700 in costs and a £144 victim surcharge. Brandy, signed over to the RSPCA, has since been rehomed.
