Punjab Police Foil Pakistan Terror Plot, Seize IED
11 Feb
Summary
- Punjab Police busted a Pakistan-backed terror module.
- A remote-controlled IED and foreign pistol were seized.
- Accused had direct contact with a Pakistan-based handler.

In a significant operation, Punjab Police's state special operations cell (SSOC) in Amritsar has successfully dismantled a Pakistan-backed terror module. The swift action, based on intelligence inputs, led to the seizure of a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED), a foreign-made pistol, and ammunition, thereby thwarting a major terror plot.
One individual has been arrested in connection with the case. Preliminary investigations reveal that the arrested accused maintained direct communication with a handler based in Pakistan through encrypted messaging platforms. Security agencies suspect that the terror consignment was infiltrated across the international border and subsequently retrieved from a pre-determined location on the outskirts of Amritsar.
The recovered IED was reportedly intended for carrying out targeted attacks in various states, including Punjab and the national capital, Delhi. An FIR has been registered at the SSOC police station in Amritsar, and an investigation is ongoing to uncover backward and forward linkages and dismantle the entire network involved in this conspiracy.
