A significant drug bust in Punjab has led to the dismantling of a syndicate believed to be supplying potent, foreign-origin party drugs to urban youth. The operation, initiated following specific intelligence, resulted in the seizure of 1,215 MDMA tablets, one of the largest tablet recoveries nationally. Other confiscated substances include cocaine, methamphetamine, THC variants, magic mushrooms, and opium.
The Punjab Director General of Police reported the arrest of six individuals, identified as Rishav, Mukesh Kumar, Lakhwinder Singh, Ravi Kumar, Baljinder Singh, and Talwinder Singh. Additionally, drug proceeds totaling ₹9 lakh were recovered. Rishav was initially apprehended in Kharar with ₹3 lakh, operating from an apartment and targeting club and party circuits.
Further investigation revealed the syndicate sourced narcotics internationally via air couriers and utilized encrypted social media for coordination. A broader distribution module based in Ludhiana was identified as a key supply hub for the 'Tricity' region. Subsequent raids in Ludhiana led to the arrest of the remaining five operatives and the recovery of more contraband and ₹6 lakh.
Officials noted that several seized substances are globally recognized as highly potent and dangerous, carrying severe psychological and physiological risks. Public health advisories and enforcement warnings have been issued in their countries of origin.
