On the 13th day of the 'Gangstran Te Vaar' campaign, Punjab Police teams apprehended 148 individuals and confiscated four weapons. This significant operation has led to a total of 4,061 arrests since the initiative's launch.
Sunday saw 767 raids conducted at locations associated with gangsters across Punjab. Preventive action was taken against 178 people, while 291 were verified and released after questioning. Notably, 14 proclaimed offenders were also arrested during these operations.
The police's ongoing 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' campaign against drugs also continued for its 337th day. On Sunday, 73 drug smugglers were arrested, with recoveries including 2.8 kg of heroin, 252 grams of opium, and 386 intoxicant tablets/capsules, alongside Rs 14,730 in drug money.
This ongoing crackdown brings the total number of drug smugglers arrested to 47,355. Furthermore, as part of a de-addiction initiative, the Punjab Police successfully persuaded 30 individuals to undergo rehabilitation treatment.
