Alerted by a police constable who observed the viral video, officers from the Wanowrie police station initiated an investigation. After verifying the location of the incident in Hadapsar and Wanowrie, authorities filed a suo motu complaint on Monday evening. The case has been registered against the youths for unlawful possession of a weapon and for creating fear among local residents. The police noted that the involved youngsters mostly hail from a slum area, are school dropouts, and have parents who are casual laborers.
