A violent incident in Pune, Maharashtra, has concluded a story of obsession and rejection with a fatal revenge killing. The victim, Subhan Amit Shaikh, had previously been arrested for a near-fatal knife attack on Sapna, who had refused his advances.
Subhan was released on bail just five days prior to the recent attack, reigniting fears among Sapna's family. Investigators believe that Sapna's mother, Jayshree Kadam, informed acquaintances, Vishal Suryavanshi and Aniket Suryavanshi, about the situation.
This led to a confrontation where Subhan and an associate were intercepted and brutally assaulted with knives and a chopper. Subhan sustained numerous deep injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His associate was also injured.
Police quickly arrested Vishal Suryavanshi and Aniket Suryavanshi and are investigating whether the murder was a planned act of revenge following Subhan's release from jail.
