Pune police have successfully busted a significant inter-state illegal arms manufacturing and trafficking operation. The racket was being run from a village in Madhya Pradesh's Barwani district, leading to the apprehension of 36 individuals.
The extensive operation, a joint effort with Madhya Pradesh police, targeted Umarti village. Authorities destroyed 50 furnaces that were actively used for illegal weapons production. This action followed the seizure of 21 pistols in Pune over the preceding three weeks, with investigations pointing to MP as the source.
Further investigations are ongoing to identify all individuals involved in the supply chain and trafficking of these weapons to Pune. Many more are suspected to be part of this extensive network.
