- Sassoon hospital committee report cited improper monitoring and treatment.

In Pune, a case was registered on Thursday against four paediatricians and two nurses from Chinmay Nursing Home in Navi Peth. The charges include causing death by negligence and cheating in relation to the demise of an 11-month-old infant last year. The infant was admitted on May 22, 2025, and passed away during treatment later that night.
The father, a lawyer, alleged negligence by the nursing home staff. A committee report from Sassoon hospital supported these claims, stating the patient was not monitored correctly and received inadequate treatment. This led to the Sahakarnagar police filing a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Medical representatives from the nursing home maintain they did everything possible to save the child, who was severely dehydrated upon arrival. They assert that the infant had visited multiple hospitals prior. The family declined a post-mortem examination at the time, providing a written statement of no complaints, according to the nursing home.
Further allegations include potential tampering with the infant's medical records and the death certificate. Police are actively investigating the matter, though no arrests have been made as of Thursday.
