Family Ignored Daughter's Affair for Wealthy Marriage

The investigation into the death of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal has uncovered details regarding the accused, Siya Goyal, and Chetan Chaudhary's entry into the Goyal family's social circle. Police revealed that the family became aware of Siya's relationship with Chetan during a community cricket match in January. Investigators suggest the family disregarded this information due to the significant financial differences between the families, proceeding with Siya's engagement to Ketan Agarwal, who hailed from a prosperous business background.

Siya's father, Pravin Goyal, has denied any prior knowledge of his daughter's alleged affair with Chetan Chaudhary. He stated that Siya was a simple 19-year-old and that he had never met or spoken to Chetan. Pravin Goyal also refuted claims that Siya had expressed any unwillingness towards her arranged marriage with Ketan Agarwal, asserting that she only communicated with Ketan after their engagement.

Authorities are currently verifying various aspects of the case, including family statements, to ascertain the timeline of the accused duo's involvement with the family and whether this information was internally disclosed. Pune Rural Police have recorded the statement of Siya's brother, Sahil Goyal, as part of their ongoing investigation. Preliminary findings suggest Sahil was aware of his sister's relationship with Chetan Chaudhary, and police are investigating if he informed other family members. Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are in police custody until June 29.
