Professor Arrested in Wife's 4-Year-Old Murder Case
11 Dec
Summary
- Professor arrested four years after wife's murder on campus.
- Brain mapping test indicated professor had memories of the crime.
- No forced entry or missing valuables, contradicting outsider claims.
A professor from Panjab University was apprehended on Monday, four years after his wife was discovered murdered at their official residence on the university campus. The arrest stems from the results of a Brain Electrical Oscillation Signature (BEOS) profiling, a brain mapping technique used to detect knowledge of a crime.
Seema Goyal, a homemaker, was found deceased on Diwali day in 2021 with her hands and legs bound. Her post-mortem confirmed strangulation as the cause of death. The investigation noted a lack of forced entry and no missing valuables. Forensic findings, including a cut metal mesh on a door, cast doubt on the professor's initial account of an external assailant.
The BEOS test, conducted at the National Forensic Sciences University, indicated that the professor possessed experiential memories linked to the crime. This assessment led authorities to identify him as a key person of interest and proceed with his arrest, culminating a long-standing investigation into the perplexing case.
