Prison Attack Turns Fatal: Inmate Dies After Tile Assault

An inmate at Yerawada Central Prison, Vishal Kamble, who was assaulted by two other prisoners, has died from his injuries. The incident occurred on December 15 when Kamble was attacked with a piece of floor tile. He sustained severe head and waist injuries and was hospitalized.
Kamble, 27, was an undertrial facing a murder charge from 2019. The accused, Akash Chandalia, 30, and Deepak Reddy, 27, also have criminal cases against them. Chandalia alleged that Kamble had been harassing him, leading to the violent attack.
Following Kamble's death on Friday, police have escalated the charges against Chandalia and Reddy to murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Both suspects are now in custody, and the investigation into the fatal assault continues.
