Summary

Seven men have admitted to their roles in a significant and organised criminal enterprise that used drones to smuggle contraband into prisons. Between December 2, 2024, and February 26, 2025, the gang conducted approximately 70 drone drops, targeting at least nine prisons across London and the South East.
This operation, responsible for an estimated 75% of drone drops into London prisons during that period, supplied a variety of illicit items including drugs like cannabis, Xanax, and Valium, as well as phones and Sim cards. One drone even crashed into a residential back garden near HMP Wandsworth.
Shafaghatullah Mohseni, identified as the 'grand delivery driver,' was allegedly involved in all 70 drone drops and received substantial payments. He is reported to have received £26,785 from 14 individuals linked to inmates, facilitating the movement of contraband and paying co-conspirators.
The gang was apprehended as part of Operation Buzzbin, a Metropolitan Police investigation. During one arrest en route to HMP Norwich, officers discovered a drone, a knife, and packages containing phones and cannabis in a car. The sentencing hearing for the seven men is ongoing.
