In Agra, a disturbing 'honour' killing case has emerged where an 18-year-old unmarried girl, four months pregnant, was allegedly murdered by her father and brother-in-law. The victim was brought from Delhi to their native village in Basauni, Agra, and then thrown into the Chambal River. The perpetrators reportedly attempted to fabricate a suicide story and presented photographs of a mock cremation to deceive investigators. The incident occurred after the family discovered her pregnancy a month prior. Police allege the father and another relative lured the teenager from Delhi on July 28, purportedly to arrange an abortion. After a night at a relative's home, they took her to a Chambal river ghat. When she refused to jump, they forcibly drowned her. Delhi Police registered a case on July 31 under sections related to murder and destroying evidence. The father has confessed to the crime, revealing his motive was to avoid social disgrace. The brother-in-law has also been arrested, and search operations for the body are ongoing.
