Prayagraj Police Intensify Crackdown on Reckless Driving

Summary

  • Prayagraj police launch week-long drive to address rising road accidents
  • Focus on vehicles with tinted glass, no registration plates, and reckless driving
  • Cops directed to check credentials of SUV passengers and take action

In response to the growing number of road accidents caused by reckless driving, the Prayagraj police have launched a special week-long drive to address the issue. The campaign, which runs from 5 am to 8 pm in all police circles, aims to tighten the noose around vehicles with tinted glass or those without registration plates.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Neeraj Pandey, all Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) have been directed to conduct vehicle checking drives in their respective circles. The police have also been asked to check the credentials of individuals sitting inside SUVs and take appropriate action.

Additionally, the cops have been instructed to crack down on tripling and take strict measures against such violations. The DCP has warned that any laxity on the part of the police will not be tolerated, and action will be taken against them.

The decision to launch this drive comes in the wake of two recent accidents in the city, where a minor driving an SUV collided with three bikes, leaving one person dead and three others injured. Another incident involving a rash Jaguar driver also resulted in one fatality and four injuries.
