Revenue Official Caught Red-Handed Taking Bribe

A revenue official from the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) was apprehended red-handed on Wednesday, February 19, 2026, accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. The accused, Anoop Chandra Mishra, a Tax Collector in Zone 6, was caught by the state anti-corruption bureau near Transport Nagar.
The action stemmed from a complaint filed by Rajkumar Yadav concerning a property mutation case. Yadav reported that Mishra demanded Rs 10,000 to expedite the mutation process for a property purchased in his mother's name. After verifying the complaint, the vigilance team set a trap and successfully caught Mishra during the exchange.
Legal proceedings have commenced against Mishra under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The Vigilance Establishment has urged the public to report any bribe demands from government officials via their helpline numbers.
