Two juvenile suspects, aged 12 and 15, were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the murder of a convenience store employee. The victim, 33-year-old Santi Ram Rai, was fatally shot on December 9, 2025, while working at a store located on SE 139th Avenue in Portland.
Following a month-long investigation, detectives determined the two suspects resided in Vancouver. They were apprehended in the area of Northeast 112th Avenue and Northeast 49th Street. Both youths face charges including murder and robbery and have been lodged at the Robert L. Harris Juvenile Justice Center.
Portland officials, including the Police Chief and Mayor, issued a joint statement extending condolences to Rai's family and community. They highlighted the incident as a stark reminder of gun violence's reach and emphasized the need for prevention, expressing gratitude to all involved in the investigation and community partners.
