Rapper Pooh Shiesty, whose legal name is Lontrell Williams Jr., and eight other individuals have been accused by federal prosecutors of a January incident involving armed robbery and kidnapping in Texas. The allegations center on a dispute that arose after three victims traveled to Dallas for a supposed business meeting at a music studio.
Prosecutors state that Williams Jr. arranged the meeting to discuss contract terms with 1017 Records, a label owned by rap artist Gucci Mane. The affidavit details that once inside the studio, Williams Jr. and his co-conspirators allegedly executed a coordinated armed takeover. Two of the defendants, Rodney Wright and Lontrell Williams Sr., were also named.
During the confrontation, Pooh Shiesty reportedly produced a pistol and forced a record label owner to sign contract termination paperwork. He also allegedly took the owner's wedding ring, watch, earrings, and cash. The other victims were also threatened with firearms, with one reportedly choked.
Investigators utilized data from Pooh Shiesty's electronic monitoring device, surveillance footage, cellphone records, and social media images in their probe. At the time of the alleged incident, Pooh Shiesty was on home confinement for a prior firearms conviction.
