A police staff member has resigned after allegedly deleting or altering crucial information within a significant investigation into alleged failings at Nottingham's maternity services. The investigation, known as Operation Perth, is a corporate manslaughter inquiry.
It aims to determine if gross negligence occurred in the maternity care provided by Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS trust. This trust is at the heart of the most extensive maternity inquiry in NHS history.
The inquiry, led by independent midwife Donna Ockenden, involves roughly 2,500 cases of neonatal deaths, stillbirths, and harm experienced by mothers and babies. Nottinghamshire Police have confirmed that affected families have been notified.
